Tanzania clubs aim to bounce backTanzania clubs aim to bounce back

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIAN clubs Simba SC and Singida Black Stars will take to the field today in their respective CAF interclub competitions, following the weekend outings of fellow Tanzanian sides Young Africans and Azam on Friday.

Simba SC travels to Mali to face Stade Malien at the Stade Omnisports Modibo Keïta in a Group D CAF Champions League clash, while Singida Black Stars host South Africa’s Stellenbosch FC at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar in Group C of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Both sides are eager to recover from disappointing opening matches. Simba SC suffered a narrow 1–0 loss to Petro Atletico de Luanda at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, while Singida Black Stars were defeated 2–0 by CR Belouizdad in their away opening fixture.

Ahead of the trip to Mali, Simba SC Chief Manager Dimitar Pantev expressed confidence in his squad, revealing plans to make adjustments in the final third and confirming that he will move away from the previous false-nine tactical approach.

“Our preparations have been thorough, and we are focused on turning our chances into goals. The previous match showed that our game plan is strong and now we aim to deliver results on the pitch,” Pantev said.

Meanwhile, Singida Black Stars Coach Miguel Gamondi emphasised the importance of a home win, outlining solutions to address the mistakes observed in their previous away match.

“We have reviewed our mistakes and are mentally prepared to give a strong performance. Discipline, organisation and finishing chances have been our focus in training. We are determined to bounce back in front of our home fans,” Gamondi stated.
