
DAR ES SALAAM: DEFENDING Champions Young Africans SC will lock horns with Azam FC today in a highly anticipated Federation Cup semifinal at CCM Kirumba Stadium, Mwanza.
They flex muscles for a place in the final of Tanzania’s premier knockout competition up for grabs.
The blockbuster encounter pits together some of the country’s football powerhouses, both eager to take a step closer to silverware in what is expected to be a fiercely contested showdown.
Yanga Head Coach Abdihamid Moalin, expressed confidence in his side’s readiness, citing the squad’s experience in handling high-pressure matches. “The biggest strength of this team is that our players have been in situations like this before,” said Moalin.
“They have played major matches, faced immense pressure and come out successful. We only need to draw on that experience.”
The tactician urged his players to remain focused and motivated after the club’s recent success.
“We must stay humble, remain hungry and never get tired of winning,” he said.
“I always remind my players that victory is special because many teams dream of achieving it.
“Although we have won trophies before, this is a new season and another opportunity to create history. We want to do it again.”
Moalin also called on Yanga supporters to rally behind the team as they seek another Federation Cup final appearance.
Yanga goalkeeper, Abutwalib Mshery, echoed his coach’s sentiments, insisting that the squad is fully prepared for the challenge ahead.
“We are ready for the match and confident as defending champions,” said Mshery.
“Our objective is to reach the final and continue our fight for the trophy.”
On the other side, Azam FC Head Coach, Florent Ibenge, said his team has completed preparations and is ready to take on one of the toughest opponents in Tanzanian football.

“We are ready for the semifinal against Yanga and our target is clear we want to reach the final,” said Ibenge.
Azam midfielder, Himid Mao, also expressed optimism, saying the players are determined to rise to the occasion.
“The team is well prepared for this important match,” Mao said. “We believe in our quality and are confident of getting the result we need.”
