KONDOA: KONDOA Urban Member of Parliament, Mariam Ditopile has urged public leaders to uphold integrity, accountability and teamwork, calling on them to honour promises made to wananchi and ensure public resources are used solely for their intended development purposes.

Speaking while opening a one-day leadership ethics training for local government leaders in Kondoa over the weekend, Ms Ditopile said leadership is a public trust that should be exercised with commitment to serving wananchi rather than pursuing personal interests.

“Let us go and serve wananchi by fulfilling the commitments we made to them. Listen to their concerns, address their priorities and be assured that I will continue presenting their needs to the relevant authorities,” she said.

The legislator stressed that leadership positions should never be viewed as opportunities for personal enrichment, warning that misuse of public funds undermines service delivery and erodes public confidence.

“Leadership is a trust. Let us use the positions entrusted to us to serve wananchi because we are only passing through this world. If you are a local leader, speak for your people and work hard to bring them development,” she said.

She urged leaders to remain transparent, hardworking and accountable in discharging their responsibilities, saying ethical leadership is essential for accelerating development in the constituency.
