DAR ES SALAAM: ZANZIBAR President, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has conveyed his condolences to the Emir of Qatar, the government, and the people of Qatar following the death of the country’s former Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Dr Mwinyi delivered the message today, July 21, 2026, during a visit to the Embassy of Qatar in Tanzania where he signed the official Book of Condolence in honor of the late leader.
While at the embassy, President Mwinyi, through Qatar’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Fahad Rashid Al-Muraikhi, extended his sympathies to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatari royal family, the government, and the people of Qatar over the loss.

President Mwinyi said the late Sheikh Hamad would be remembered for his visionary leadership and his significant contribution to Qatar’s development. He praised the former Emir’s efforts to strengthen education, economic growth, public welfare, and Qatar’s role on the international stage.
Former Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani passed away on July 12, 2026, aged 74 years.
