DAR ES SALAAM: THE Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Culture and Arts and Chief Government Spokesperson, Gerson Msigwa, has called on Tanzanian artists and content creators to use their talents to promote positive values, patriotism, and social development through their creative works.
Msigwa made the remarks while speaking at an event held to recognize the contributions of content creator Abdul Hussein Chacha, popularly known as Headmaster, to the countryโs creative industry.
Addressing the gathering, Msigwa said the government under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan will continue creating an enabling environment for the creative sector by expanding support mechanisms for artists and innovators. He noted that the government has continued to provide loans and implement various programmes aimed at strengthening the creative economy and creating more opportunities for young people.

He added that, through the Culture and Arts Fund, the government has so far disbursed more than TZS 14 billion to support artists across different creative fields. Of that amount, more than TZS 3 billion has been allocated to online content creators to improve the quality of their productions and enhance their competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.
During the event, Abdul Hussein Chacha was presented with a 5m/- cash award, membership in the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), and a digital payment code that will enable him to market and sell his content more easily in local and international markets.
Msigwa reaffirmed the governmentโs commitment to working closely with stakeholders in the creative industry to ensure artists have the support they need to develop their talents and use their creativity as a tool for public education, promoting patriotism, and contributing to Tanzaniaโs economic development.
