MANYARA: THE government has pledged to resolve challenges surrounding the Ngano Limited wheat farm investment in Hanang district, paving the way for the 43,000-hectare project to boost wheat production, create jobs and drive economic growth.
Deputy Minister in the President’s Office for Planning and Investment, Dr Pius Chaya, made the commitment during a working visit to the farm to assess the progress of the agricultural investment.
Dr Chaya explained that the government was implementing President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s directive to ensure that the dispute between the investor and local residents is resolved fairly while protecting the interests of all parties.
According to him, the President had directed that challenges affecting the wheat farm and residents of Hanang be addressed permanently, allowing the land to be put to productive use and enabling the investment to deliver benefits to local communities and the wider economy.

“The government is committed to ensuring that this investment achieves its intended goals by increasing productivity, creating employment opportunities and supporting economic growth,” Dr Chaya affirmed.
During the visit, the deputy minister received an update on the implementation of the project, progress made so far and plans to increase productivity and expand employment opportunities through the investment.
