
President Samia hails Serengeti Boys for reaching CAF U-17 final, U-17 World Cup

DAR ES SALAAM: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has congratulated Tanzania’s U-17 national football team, Serengeti Boys, for reaching the final of the 2026 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations (AFCON) and securing qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
The Serengeti Boys are set to face Senegal in the AFCON U-17 final on June 2, 2026, in Morocco, marking a historic achievement for Tanzanian youth football.
In a statement issued by the Directorate of Presidential Communications, Bakari Machumu today, May 29, 2026, in Dar es Salaam, the President described the team’s success as a significant milestone for the development of football in Tanzania, reflecting the talent, discipline and determination of the country’s young players on the international stage.
The Head of State also congratulated the team for booking a place at the FIFA U-17 World Cup to be held in Qatar in November 2026, and wished them success in the upcoming final, expressing confidence that they will continue to make the nation proud.
