ZANZIBAR: CHAMA Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) in Zanzibar has said it will not change its position on the political reconciliation accord with ACT Wazalendo despite criticism from some opposition leaders.
CCM Deputy Secretary General for Zanzibar, Dr Mohamed Said Mohamed Dimwa, said party members should remain confident that the party will stand firm despite external pressure or political rhetoric, stressing that safeguarding peace and stability remains its top priority.
Speaking to wananchi in Ole Constituency, South Pemba Region, Dr Dimwa said CCM’s core mission is to promote unity, solidarity and mutual respect among all citizens, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or political affiliation.
He said President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan’s administration introduced the 4Rs philosophy, Reconciliation, Resilience, Reforms and Rebuilding, to ensure the country advances through inclusive governance.
In Zanzibar, he said, President Dr Hussein Mwinyi has championed the vision that “the best is yet to come,” which is reflected in the development progress being recorded across the Isles.
Dr Dimwa said the government’s goal is to ensure equitable development for all Zanzibaris, citing the Ole Constituency Member of Parliament as an example of a leader delivering tangible results for wananchi.
He added that CCM remains committed to selecting capable, dedicated and development-oriented leaders focused on improving people’s lives.

“Now is the time for CCM members and wananchi to compare the performance of CCM leaders with those from other parties. What have they actually delivered? It is also time for the public to question how constituency development funds are being used,” he said.
Earlier, CCM ChakeChake District Chairman Ali Mohamed Chande said the party’s manifesto continues to prioritise unity, solidarity and cooperation as the foundation of national development.
He urged residents of Ole Constituency to preserve the prevailing peace and avoid being provoked by political differences.
On July 9 this year, CCM and ACT-Wazalendo signed a Joint Declaration and Action Agenda, setting out an ambitious programme of political, constitutional and governance reforms aimed at strengthening reconciliation, democracy and lasting peace in Zanzibar.
The declaration commits the two parties to sustained dialogue, institutional reforms and mechanisms for implementing agreed changes.
